Berner International earns 2025 Enterprise Award for sustainable leadership
New Castle, Pa. (May 8, 2025) – Berner International (“Berner”), North America’s leading manufacturer of air curtains, announced today it was honored with the Enterprise Award from the Green Building Alliance (GBA), Western Pennsylvania’s authority on sustainable design. The Enterprise Award recognizes a manufacturing or product company that has demonstrated exceptional leadership in sustainability.
The GBA recognizes Berner for its long-standing commitment to sustainability, noting its early involvement in GBA’s Green Building Products Initiative, original corporate sustainable culture programming, and recent participation in the GBA’s pilot program to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing.

A pioneer in the green building space, the GBA is a gift to not just Pittsburgh but to the entire region,” said Miranda Berner of Berner International. “This award recognizes our work to achieve Net Zero for our manufacturing facility in New Castle, and affirms our contribution to sustainable building systems as we help our customers achieve energy savings, reduce disease vectors, and create healthy, comfortable environments.”

Berner was recognized for:
- Its focus on sustainable manufacturing and operational waste reduction since becoming a GBA member in the early 2000s.
- Its rooftop solar array that launched in January 2024, making Berner the first of its kind to integrate solar initiatives in Lawrence County and one of the first, between Pittsburgh and Erie, in Western Pennsylvania.
- Berner’s recent participation in GBA’s pilot program, conducting a Life Circle Analysis (LCA) on its products to measure its environmental impact from raw material extraction through disposal.
- Berner’s implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement in its workflow to produce high-quality products while scaling operations to meet both domestic and international business needs.
The GBA honored Berner on May 8, 2025 during its Emerald Evening Gala at the David L. Lawrence
Convention Center.
